Zinedine Zidane is not wasting any time. Despite Real Madrid’s strong finish to the season, the Frenchman is not satisfied with what he has and has told the club which positions he feels the team needs to strengthen vis-à-vis the coming campaign.

Florentino Pérez has handed his manager full responsibility where movements in the market are concerned and Zidane has told him what he wants, according to ‘As‘. However, the decision that FIFA take regarding the possible sanction will determine greatly how Real Madrid end up spending this summer. These are ‘Zizou’s’ requests:

-A left-back: somebody who is able to compete with Marcelo and be a reliable replacement for the Brazilian whenever he is unavailable, as Fabio Coentrão, currently on loan at Monaco, does not enter into his plans. His first choice is David Alaba, but Bayern de Munich are not going to make it easy for him. The Wolfsburg player Ricardo Rodríguez, and Wendell, currently at Bayer Leverkusen, are the alternatives.

-A midfielder: Zidane wants an understudy for Casemiro, but there are few players with the same profile currently available on the market. Marco Verratti, N’Golo Kanté and Christoph Kramer are possible targets. The Blanco manager, though, wants Paul Pogba in his team. Juventus have no intention of letting their star go but is is not impossible that Real Madrid will try to sweeten any offer they make for the French midfielder by including one or more of their players in the operation.

-A forward: Real Madrid plan to exercise the buy-back clause they have to bring Álvaro Morata back, but the expected outcome is that the academy graduate and now Spanish international will only spend a short time at the Santiago Bernabéu and then be sold on to a Premier League club. Robert Lewandowski is the striker who is coveted, although Bayern have already made it clear that he is not for sale. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the plan B in this area.
