There was no end to the war between the Mercedes drivers in 2014, it is more alive than ever. Nico Rosberg, in the post-race press conference, accused Lewis Hamilton of slowing down on purpose in order to wreck his chances. As Lewis Hamilton dropped his speed, Rosberg also had to slow down to find some cool air and not wear out his tyres.

Hamilton defended himself by saying that he was simply looking after his own tyres and was not intentionally trying to slow Rosberg down. As a result of this, Rosberg had to change strategy visibly and he felt Sebastian Vettel closer on his heels than he would have liked, though his second place was never really in danger.

Rosberg’s complaint shows that he is not as sure of himself as he was throughout 2014 and he needs to make excuses for what he is unable to pull off on the track since, so far this season, he has not managed to beat Lewis Hamilton.
