Marc Bartra now knows where he will be playing next season. The Culé defender has reached full agreement with Borussia Dortmund, and will pass his medical check-up there shortly. The German outfit will pay €8 million for the Spanish international.

The price is low owing to the fact that his release clause has automatically gone down because he has not played a stipulated minimum number of games this season. For that very same reason, Barça have lost their right to buy him back. The Azulgrana academy graduate thus starts a new stage in his careeer, having arrived at barely 11 years old. He was handed his first-team debut by Pep Guardiola in 2010. Now, 14 years later, it looks like he will be packing his bags and going to pastures new.

In the official communiqué, “FC Barcelona wish Marc Bartra all the best in his new phase of his career as a player and he will be invited to say goodbye to the fans personally at the start of next season.” The club president, Bartomeu, tweeeted his thanks to the centre-back:
