Barça to wear tribute shirt to Cruyff in the Clásico

FC Barcelona are going to make the Clásico against Real Madrid a great tribute to the memory of Johan Cruyff, who passed away last week. The fans will display a 90,000-piece mosaic with message ‘Gràcies Johan’, which will also be on the Barça players’ shirts. The mosaic will also represent a blaugrana shirt with the number 14, the one that the Dutch maestro always wore.

The shirt has now been publicised and the inscription will be across the chest, in the place where the emblem that accredits Barcelona as world champions after they won the Club World Cup in Japan is usually positioned.

This will be yet another tribute that Barça will dedicate to the man who many believe changed the history of the club when he came as a player with Franco still in power and, above all, the nine years he spent at the helm of the team as coach, from 1988 to 1996.

In the next few days, Barça, along with Cruyff’s family, are expected to announce a last posthumous tribute, which may be a match involving players from the ‘Dream Team’ that made history by lifting Barça’s first-ever European Cup at Wembley, although the final details are still to be worked out.
