Bale: "No muchos compañeros tienen mi número de teléfono"

Gareth Bale is a happy man after leading Wales to the Euro 2016 tournament in France. The Real Madrid player says that Rafa Benítez sent him a message after he had sealed qualification with the national team, although he was one of the few from the club that did so and Bale himself explains the reason. “Not many have got my number to be honest! I try to keep as low a profile as possible,” he told ‘Wales Online’ in an interview.

In the interview, Bale spoke about the possibility of of facing Cristiano Ronaldo in a hypothetical Wales-Portugal clash. “It would be great to host such a good nation as Portugal, they have great players as well. But whoever we get, it will be hopefully a big team and one that we can test ourselves against. That will be the best way to prepare ourselves for the Euros.”

Despite the excitement of reaching the objective with the national side, Bale is focused on the present moment which, right now, is Real Madrid. “I obviously want to win as much as I can for my club, but if you start thinking about things in the future you’re not concentrating on the present. It’s about taking each game as it comes and then, when internationals come around, I will be 100 per cent focused on that.”
