Barcelona manager faces Sevilla for the first of the three titles, the UEFA Super Cup

Another triple challenge for Lucho

Luis Enrique is taking on the challenge of securing another triple (UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup) starting with the clash with Sevilla to decide which of the two is the best team in Europe. If all goes according to plan, the Barcelona manager could repeat his friend Guardiola’s success. Until now, Guardiola is the only coach to have achieved the sextuplet. Of the three challenges facing him now, this is probably the most difficult to overcome. “The more titles, the better. There are players who are also in a position to beat personal records, and I like that, because it shows that we have great footballers. Barcelona’s aim is to carry on making history.”

‘Lucho’ is not worried about the favourites tag that has been attached to his side against the Andalusians: “The most important thing is to show on the field that you are better than your opponents. I am not bothered by the label of favourites. Sevilla will be a tough team to beat.”

He sees Sevilla as a team that always come back stronger: “Emery has more difficulties because every season he has to fit new players in, but the results are there and they show how great they are.”

Regarding the game itself, he did not want to use the absences of Neymar and Jordi Alba as an excuse: “Players being missing is part of football and its a shame for the ones who will not be able to take to the field, because both teams will lose some potential. But against that is the fact of having depth in the squad, and both teams are going to be up for it and wanting to win.”
